Writing Adventures

As you may have guessed, this was one of a group of ideas that I had imagined on my cruise vacation. During the trip, I just quickly wrote down the main idea and did not expand upon it until now. I hope that I captured the original idea that I had... But hope you enjoy it regardless =) ~~~ On the second day of the trip, it was pure bliss enjoying the hot sun by the beach lying on a chair with the cool breeze coming from the ocean. There was no need to worry about work, or any stressful situation. It was like a reset button, and a time to recharge. Moments earlier, I made sure to put on enough sun screen to avoid looking like a red pepper. After my brief nap, a cousin sat down beside me. "You should join us in the water. It feels cool, and fantastic." "In a bit." I looked up at her, and watched her go back to the water. After a couple of minutes, I decided to stand up and make my way down to the beach. As soon as my feet touched the water, it was freezing cold....

The past couple of days have been a mix of a break and focusing more on my WIPs. Sorry about that. I started from scratch on one of my novels, and I realized just how long of a path it will take to reach the end this time around. How I never had this thought about writing this novel before befuddles me... This flash fiction story came to be after I took a walk at a park yesterday. I was watching a family of three, and this idea came into my head which I then quickly went off on my own tangent... ~~~ Just as we came into the park, my only daughter, aged 4 years old, had run off from the path to enjoy the cool breeze under the clear skies and sun. I just want to say that yesterday (May 14th) was my birthday, but there's something that is special about it that I will never forget the date of my birthday. My brother's birthday is the day after (May 15th), and from as early as I can remember, we have always celebrated our birthdays together since it made logical sense. Jackie has always loved his childhood friend, Joyce but she is getting married to someone else. While trying to continue on with his life, he always ends up thinking about her. This week would be the very first cruise ship that I had taken in my entire life so far. My parents paid for the trip, so I treated it as a sort of celebration from university. The day that we would take the airplane down south to the Carribean to board the cruise ship made my heart pump faster, and my palms all sweaty. Along with being my first cruise, this would be my first time on an airplane. The fear of falling from heights started from my childhood when I fell a couple of times from the top of my bunk bed at home. The trip didn't seem so bad and thankfully I didn't get motion sickness while on the plane.
